I noticed today that there is a spot on an older wrestling singlet where the lycra fibers have broken apart and pulled away, leaving only a thin and fragile nylon weave behind. This spot happens to be exactly where the tip of my penis makes contact with the singlet, which is also where I would leak some precum.
The thinned and worn area, about the same size as a wet patch of precum, makes me suspect that our seminal fluids can cause spandex fibers to deteriorate. I think what happened is that I wore the singlet just for a short while, leaked some precum on it, and after I took it off I didn’t feel the need to wash it and so the little spot of cum or precum just stayed on the fibers and did its work.
Now I think about it I have some spandex shorts where the fabric is definitely wearing out right in front. Has anyone else had the same experience?

Yes, even a little sweat can destroy lycra. Better wash it more often! Since I do that, my lycra gear remains in perfect condition!

I’ve never hear that before and that does not happen to my wrestling singlet or my spandex… Semen are made from protein and does not contain any acidic fluids. I wear my singlet all the time and there are some wear because it’s been worn many times. I’ve had a lot of times where precum would leave spots but never damage the spandex. I cum in my singlet all the time and even left it over night and nothing’s happened to the material.
NO, Cum does not decompose Lycra fibers! Semen is not made up of anything to decompose any fabric. Yes semen does contain some citric acid and free amino acids, but those are not the type of “acids” that breaks down clothing, or Lycra fibers. It may stain (esp white fabrics) from time to time but it will not decompose your precious Lycra.
The thin layer of nylon left with the Lycra fibers pulled away indicates the most stretched, specially area that you tug and pull on the most.
The place where that was mentioned precum ruining the fabric is sure a mistake. I have leaked precum on my wrestling singlet PLENTY of times and has not decomposed my material, never the less I’ve busted my nut in my singlet many times but have not had any problem with my material becoming “decomposed”. The only part that is pulling is where the Lycra fibers has finally given up because I pull on that area all the time to get the singlet on me.
I’ve jacked off in my speedos and they’re still fine. I don’t think cum will decompose spandex.
It sounds like you’re creating problems yourself by trying to solve this issue instead of looking at why their is a problem in the first place.
